Clara Schumann

Clara Schumann

Here Charlie plays dress-up as the German pianist and composer, Clara Josephine Schumann (née Wieck) (1819-1896)

Gifted in both the piano and violin, Clara went on musical tours around Europe from a young age. Her husband, Robert Schumann, was also a composer and together they inspired each other’s musical creations. Although Clara was one of the only female concert pianists and composers of her time, between 1841 and 1856 she performed in at least 139 public concerts. Clara also premiered the work of other famous composers such as Johannes Brahms and Frédéric Chopin.
